Maʻo

The large, bright yellow flowers and velvety silver-green leaves of this endemic cotton make it attractive in landscapes. It is native to low leeward coastal areas and can tolerate salt spray, drought, heat, and wind. Once established this low-growing shrub requires very little water. It was used traditionally to make medicine and kapa dye.
