Also known as Canna Lily, Indian Shot, or African Arrowroot, aliʻipoe are typically grown as an ornamental. They have lush green foliage and modest but beautiful yellow, orange, or red flowers. Its seeds are used in making jewelry, lei, and for hula. It’s starchy, tuberous rhizomes can be cooked and eaten, or can be used to thicken stews and sauces. This easy-to-grow plant will add beauty, texture, and function to any garden.
Aliʻipoe plants are easy to grow and require minimal care. They prefer full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Aliʻipoe plants are not susceptible to many pests or diseases, making them a low-maintenance choice for any garden.
